MG1 ECU unlocking service with MG1 Config

To program a MG1 ECU it needs to be unlocked beforehand. To do that you first need to order an unlocked ECU from your Maptuner dealer. You then use the Maptuner to essentially clone your ECU to the new unlocked ECU and flash it.

Once you have received the new unlocked ECU, you can start the process according to below.

Procedure Overview

1. 1. Ensure that your Maptuner is updated to the latest firmware.
      Perform a sync using the MyMaptuner app and enter Information to verify that firmware version is 51 or higher before proceeding to step 2.

   2. With the locked/OEM ECU installed, connect the Maptuner and select “Add Vehicle”.

   3. Proceed to Tuning Files Selection and assign the appropriate tuning license.
      Do not flash at this stage.

   4. Replace the locked ECU with your unlocked ECU.

   5. Perform the flash through “Programming.”
      The first flash will take approximately 10–15 minutes as the Maptuner will clone essential vehicle-specific data from your original ECU to your unlocked ECU. After this process is complete, it will automatically proceed with flashing the unlocked ECU.

   6. Your ECU is now fully configured, flashed, and ready for use.
